What is Inverse function?

What is Inverse function: Given a function f(x), if there exists another function g(x) such that for all x in the domain of f(x), f(g(x)) = g(f(x)) = x, then g(x) is called the inverse of f(x).

For example, if f(x) = 2x + 1, then g(x) = (x – 1) / 2 is the inverse function of f(x).
